His name is Uncle Bill and he was accompanied by his wife Joyce, granddaughter Cassie, and his daughter Windy. Emily and Tyler came out too! We had a great time and caught up on all the news.<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_TbGbrxrQdaU/Smsh-8jCGgI/AAAAAAAAAOE/JtMUmEOTVQY/s320/June+2009+094.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362417146603379202" />
Uncle Bill is my real dad's brother, and he looks a lot like him. I love him so much because he has always been there for me in ways a father should. Uncle Bill loves the Lord, loves his wife, and is family oriented even to kids who aren't his. He also loving cared for his mom before she passed away.
Whenever I have needed a dad to talk something over with, I knew I could call him and he would listen. He is not judgemental and very supportive. He's interested in my life and even my childrens lives. I remember when my daughter Erin got married, and he drove all the way to Denver. We loved him for it. He danced with us, and everyone loved him. Thank you Uncle Bill.(and Aunt Joyce).

Many men do not understand how important they are to their children. They have their own self ambitions and children are emotionally abandoned. They forget tha boys need a positive role model so they don't perpetuate the problem and girls need their dad's love so they don't look for elsewhere.<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_TbGbrxrQdaU/SmshNgBpubI/AAAAAAAAAN8/m028cYFbJqI/s320/June+2009+096.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362416297133586866" />
I turned 50 this year, and I still wish I could have a healthy relationship with my dad. I would love for him to be involve in my life, but at this time, it is not possible. Therefore I am so thankful for my Uncle Bill. She weighed 7 lbs 7 oz and was 20 1/2" long. Although I have heard her sweet little voice over the phone, I will not get to see her until July 5, but hey, at least I will get to see her.Tim and Erin are doing a great job, and they are quite the team!They are now beginning to get a routine sorted out, which you know can be a challenge at first. I know Elise is in good hands!

May the good Lord bless and keep little Elise always in his care. Congratulations Erin and Tim! Jack and I jumped in the VW and headed for Cape Lookout where we thought we would try surf fishing. The surf was pretty high, but we tried anyway. However we finally came to the conclusion that it was just too dangerous after we were both wacked by a couple of wild waves and our tackle box was swept toward the sea. Fortunately, Jack caught it in time.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_TbGbrxrQdaU/Se1BM4WTZoI/AAAAAAAAANc/9T78tgYB3o4/s320/Kelli+surf+fishing.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5326985623789332098" />
Then we headed up the coast to Netarts Bay where the mouth of the esturary and the ocean meet. Although it was much calmer, we still didn't catch any fish, but we did catch a lot of rays.

Finally, we went digging for cockles so we wouldn't be totally skunked, and Jack made a wonderful clam chowder for dinner tonight. Yum, yum.

After Spring Break

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_TbGbrxrQdaU/Se01QmYAqpI/AAAAAAAAAM0/olzqUF-BurY/s320/Mom.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5326972493544598162" />
After spring break I flew down to my mom's where I spent the week doing her taxes, cleaning house, and checked on her future finances. I also spent a lot of time hugging her and generally supporting her in anyway I could.

It was a sobering visit, but while I was there, I read an awesome book called A Grace Disguised that helped me gain a new perspective on life. The week after I returned was frustrating to say the least. It seems I couldn't concentrate and my mind was jumbled. So I took up journaling in order to clear my mind of the bits and pieces of things that seem to clutter up my thinking, and I had a much better week last week.

Jack is a great problem solver, and he helped me brainstorm some ways to run my classroom more efficiently. I am so thankful for my friends and family who have been an ecouragement to me. Especially my best friend Rita!

10 Good Things about Dad

I recently read a book to my English language learners called Ten Good Things about Barney It was a story about a beloved cat that died, and the boy's mom suggested he make a list of ten things that were good about him to help the boy remember his cat.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_TbGbrxrQdaU/Sdwl1ze6roI/AAAAAAAAAMs/x36pyBxDv8E/s320/Chess+Players+agian.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322170465928261250" />

I thought it was a great idea, and decided to make my own list called

The Ten Good Things about Dad.

He:
1. married my mom who had seven kids!
2. gave us a family.
3. took me to church where I learned that Jesus loved me.
4. moved us to Oregon to a safer enviroment.
5. bought us our first real home.
6. fixed my bike when it had a flat.
7. taught me to play chess.
8. listened to me.
9. gave us a real Christmas just like a regular family.
10. loved my husband and children.

Exciting News

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_TbGbrxrQdaU/SdAdwTGT66I/AAAAAAAAAMk/D5gsgCN8Mns/s320/Wedding_3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5318783875522227106" />Jack and Kelli Basey would like to announce the marriage of their daughter Emily to Tyler Laughlin!
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_TbGbrxrQdaU/SdAdWlxAe5I/AAAAAAAAAMc/HH9u-OusN6g/s320/Wedding_4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5318783433856547730" /> It was a beautiful wedding and very precious. He loved her so much. Moments like this were precious. After they moved to Las Vegas they never made the trip back to Oregon. So this is a rare amd precious photo.<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 246px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_TbGbrxrQdaU/ScR6PBZ4MXI/AAAAAAAAAMU/9YrtgQVGaAE/s320/scan0005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5315507858697630066" /> Grandpa loved his granddaughter Erin Louise, 3 months of age. This was when they lived in Dayville. I was a bit homesick and went to visit mom and dad. They were so thrilled to get to see her. She held a special place in their heart. Losing dad on March 19, added to our heartache after losing Patch. He was the best father I ever had.

During this time, my mind is flooded with joyful memories and blessings he added to my life. I am very sad at his passing, but relieved that his suffering is over. Dad died of lung cancer at the age of 75. May 10, he would have been 76. Normally, his birthday would be a very sad event, but I am expecting my fourth grandchild very near his birthday. Wouldn't it be awesome if precious Elise was born on his birthday?

Anyway I am so thankful that dad introduced me to Jesus, and a man who wins souls is wise. Lord let him enter into your rest.

Leroy gave us a home, a real home. During my freshman year of high school we moved from San Jose, California to Burns, Oregon. Dad willingly took on a new wife with five children. I had the utmost respect for him for taking on such a large family and providing for us. <img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 246px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_TbGbrxrQdaU/ScR6O34bdMI/AAAAAAAAAL8/lXhLKLEDzIU/s320/scan0007.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5315507856141415618" />
He purchased this home for our family and work hard to support us.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 246px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_TbGbrxrQdaU/ScR6PGdyCUI/AAAAAAAAAME/O4MpImpMy9c/s320/scan0006.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5315507860056181058" />
This home holds so many precious memories. I loved it there. It was the most peaceful time of my childhood. Thank you dad for the memories. I am convinced that he is present with the Lord, and suffering no more. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I am happy in the thought that he is with Jesus now and whole. I love you dad, and one day I hope you will be looking for me, because I will be looking for you. Love Kelli

Ps. I was actually liberating to reach this mile post. I set some goals for myself this last year and I met those goals so that felt good. Also I would recommend getting healthier, because you will feel better.

I got to spend the day with my hero, Jack. We went to Lincoln City and had a wonderful lunch. Then we headed up to Netarts Bay where we plan to start crabbing and claming! We are very excited about this excursion. We love taking the V Dub to the beach and see new sights.

Of course it helps that I am married to the most wonderful man, who saw fit to make my birthday very special.

Also it was very nice to share my birthday with my friends and students. Here is a picture of a few students who shared the same month and one who shared the same day. We had balloons and cake! Then we danced and celebrated for the last half hour of the day. It is so fun having a birthday party with fourth graders! They keep me young at heart1 I love them so much!
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 239px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_TbGbrxrQdaU/SWgXSm8mziI/AAAAAAAAAJs/Ouw0A0EMn5o/s320/Kellis+Birthday+Party+003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289503370806480418" />I am so thankful that the Lord gave me my hearts desire! Our quarterback was literally picked up by these guys and layed on the ground! On several ocassions, they just grabbed his mask and pulled him to the ground. He was frustrated to say the least. He had his first home game this past Friday, so Jack and I and a few friends turned out to watch. It was so exciting, and our team won! Jackson is as tenancious as a bull dog. The Bluejay's caught a kick off and headed for their goal, but Jackson took off after him and caught him! The runner tried to shake him off, but Jackson hung on, even after he was knocked to the ground, he didn't let go.
